The NeverEnding Story in Davos
I completed my 14th ‘pilgrimage’ to Davos for the World Economic Forum annual meeting. Since 2010, I have belonged to the Young Global Leaders (YGL) community and have now attended over a hundred World Economic Forum events over the years. This year I created a United Planet (UP) Game experiment in Davos. The UP Game is a 6 day immersive community experience to step outside of time where your vision for yourself, your community, your organisation, society and the planet has been realised. Our mission is to tell the best story of the future possible. From the application of our collective intelligence and creativity on the narrative we reverse engineer societal and planetary solutions.
This is my 14th Hub Culture interview with Edie Lush which summarises the UP Game:
I wanted to create a hybrid UP Game experience that facilitated a community and cultural layer over the experience of the week — to ‘find the others’ — heart centred leaders committed to the transformation of the planet. I invited 100 leaders of impact that were in Davos to a WhatsApp group called Gaians in Davos UP Game — by the end of the week this grew to 150 Gaians. I curated daily invitations and conversations as a guide for the emergent community to locations and experiences. We also partnered with Wisdom House and the Wisdom Film Festival to create a United Planet Immersive experience on Fire Tuesday in the Davos cinema for 2 hours. 14 inspiring Gaians spoke their visions for the future into the present.
The Game culminated with Aether Day where we rented the igloo village at 2630m elevation at the top of Davos’s Parssen Mountain. There the Gaians created a winter wonderland together. It was -19C outside but we were warm inside expedition sleeping bags in the igloos. The experience included all sorts of magic such as snowshoeing, skiing, as well as music circles around the fire and in the jacuzzi and sauna.

I filmed an episode of the United Planet called the NeverEnding Story. This will be released as an immersive journey into the United Planet. I interviewed many leaders of systemic change solutions to share their vision for the thriving future. These interviews ranged broadly from a famous Buddhist Monk sharing a vision for the Metaverse as a Planetary Sangha to a famous Finnish explorer sharing from his many experiences in Antarctica and beyond.
The name of the Davos Game was chosen to honour the launch of the United Planet UPgrades on 22nd January 2023 — A daily story from outside of time.
Since 2019 I have been organising a closing celebration for the acheivment of the Global Goals in Davos as well as launching the Golden Memes: 2020, 2021 and 2022. I will be releasing the 10 Golden Memes 2023 with the launch of the United Planet community and DAO on Earth Day, April 22nd 2023.
